Many poorer quality operators use them because they are cheap to buy. Obviously if you live in a unit or an apartment you will need to use them and there are a few good operators who can achieve good results.

There are a huge number of carpet pre sprays or ‘shampoos’ as many people call them on the market. Many are cheap and nasty with all sorts of ‘additives’ designed to give a fast ‘result’ but are not necessarily good for you or your carpet. Stay away from high pH pre sprays.

Ask to see what is being used on your carpet-after all you’ll have to live with the results. Cheap high pH pre sprays can damage your carpet and lead to rapid re soiling.
